Balsamea refers to one of two varieties of fir balsam. This evergreen tree is native to most of eastern and central Canada, as well as the northeastern United States.
Virginiana, more commonly known as Eastern juniper or red cedar, is also native to North America, especially the mountainous regions east of the Rockies.
